For those that don’t know you, please introduce yourself and tell us about your salon.
Hi my name is Stacy Colatrella, I own Salon Botanique. We are an eco-friendly, organic salon. I opened in November 2006. I found out through experience with health that eliminating chemicals out of our home and work environment is so very important, not only for my workers but also for my clients. All our products are infused with essential oils and clean of any chemicals.
Fourteen years (and counting) in business is great—what are the keys to your success?
Customer service is our top priority and to make sure our clients feel better when they leave then when they arrive. Our stylists are also always training and keeping their skills up to the new trends.
If you weren’t a salon owner, what would you be doing?
Looking for a place in Morristown to open my own salon.
What is your favorite bite to eat in Morristown?
I love food so i enjoy all the different restaurants in town. Each have a delicious flair and I love supporting the town.
How did you choose Morristown as home base?
I was working as a hairdresser in Morristown for 12 years and loved the community and all the support the businesses gave to each other. It is also a beautiful town with a lot of history.
Where does the salon name come from?
Botanique comes from the French word Botany which refers to Botanique, a complex in Brussels in a Botanical garden. Therefore Salon Botanique represents beauty.
What are the salon’s specialties?
We specialize in our clean products which allows us to create and specialize in high-lites and color services also our customized hair treatments to help your hair get back the shine and moisture.
What is your most memorable experience?
We volunteered our services to the cancer center to do makeovers because they were looking for chemical free products. It was amazing to see how we were able to make them feel beautiful and alive again!
What advice would you give a new salon owner just starting out?
I would say make sure you love what you do. It takes a lot of time but the rewards are so worth it! Treat your staff with respect and they will want to stay loyal. Research your products they will set you apart from other salons. Customer service is top priority!

What is your favorite part of being a small business owner?
A small business is intimate and I know all of the clients.
